Our Goal At the Studio

Our goal at Elliott Bay Recording Company is for you to come out with a great sounding product that you're happy with and have fun while recording.

Preproduction

The more prepared you are before entering the studio, the quicker things will get recorded! You need to allow for some time for experimenting, but the more you know your parts the less time you'll spend practicing in the studio!

The Mixing Process

Mixing can also be a time consuming process. It's more than just putting up the faders and saying "yeah". We try to work within your time frame, but you must be realistic if you want your end product to sound good. We will talk to you about this process along the way, but more time given to mixing , the better things will sound in the end, with your overall budget in mind.

New Strings, Drum Heads, Etc.

If you don't come into the studio with decent equipment, it's hard to help you achieve the sound you're going for. It's vitally important to have new heads for the drums, new strings for the guitars and decent amps. It never hurts to bring extra strings, batteries, heads, picks etc.

It Always Takes Longer Than You Think

Recording can be a time consuming process. Just because you have a four minute song, don't think it will only take a few minutes to record it. You have to allow time for setup (at least an hour with a full band). Then we have to dial in the sounds. If you have problems with the drums making weird noises, a lot of time can be spent sussing out the problem. Make sure all your equipment is in good working order before coming to the studio. We make sure all of our equipment is working!
